3-5 days after symptoms begin: measles rash. Three to five days after symptoms begin, a rash breaks out. It usually begins as flat red spots that appear on the face at the hairline and spread downward to the neck, trunk, arms, legs, and feet. Small raised bumps may also appear on top of the flat red spots. The spots may become joined together as they spread from the head to the rest of the body.

A widespread skin rash is a classic sign of measles. This rash can last up to 7 days and generally appears within 14 days of exposure to the virus.

A high fever that starts when the rash appears. A cough, runny nose, sore throat, and muscle aches. Red, irritated eyes that are watery and sensitive to light. Small white spots that appear in 2 to 3 days inside your mouth, usually on the cheeks. Abdominal pain, vomiting, or diarrhea.
